is a baby under 3 months with a temperature of 38°C (100.4°F) or more (37.5°C or more if checked under the arm), or who feels unusually cold to touch
is not able to drink or breastfeed, or vomits everything
has had no urine, or a dry nappy, for 8 hours or more, or has sunken eyes and is very weak
has bleeding gums or nose, black stools, or severe stomach pain during or after a fever
has cold, clammy hands and feet, or is unusually restless or irritable during or after a fever
has a rash that does not fade when you press a glass on it, a stiff neck, or (in a baby) a bulging soft spot on the head
has sudden swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or trouble breathing after a food, medicine or insect sting
is a newborn whose skin turns yellow in the first day of life, or whose palms and soles look yellow
vomits blood
has a serious injury or burn, or may have swallowed poison, a battery or medicine (do not make the child vomit; take the packet or bottle with you)

Go even if the sign is not on this list, whenever you feel your child is seriously unwell. If you cannot get to hospital quickly and safely, call an ambulance.
